This month’s reward explores clean geometric forms interacting with amorphous black matter, contrasting rigid precision with something fluid, rough, and always changing.

Transparent elements and a matching background are included, each in calm and active states, making it easy to move between subtle atmospheric moments and high-energy drops.

Ten VJ loops + a Resolume project, arranged into columns and ready for mixing. Available in FHD (1080p) and 4K (2160p) until August 31st, 2026.

Creation Process

The element images were generated in Midjourney on a blue chroma key background. I then generated the environment in Nano Banana, matching the lighting and materials of the elements.

I animated the elements and environment in Kling 3.0 at 1080p, 24fps. Each of the four elements was animated in both calm and active states. The environment was also animated in two states: in the calm version, only the lamps and screen text move, while in the active version, the devices on the walls start moving and swapping places.

The animations were then upscaled and interpolated to 4K at 60fps in Topaz Astra before being time-remapped in After Effects to fit 120 BPM. I removed the chroma key from the elements in After Effects using Keylight v1.2.

Resolume Arena Project

I started by laying the four elements over the environment background in their two states. I built the deck so that it starts with a calm element over a calm environment, then gradually moves into the active versions, adding effects such as Twitch and light flashes using Levels with an envelope to make things more intense.

Then I went a bit off script and started playing with mirrors on the environment to create some bizarre backgrounds. I composed the elements on top of these, with one element in the center and two on either side. I also created a couple of cloner arrays using the Radial Cloner effect.

Start by triggering the columns marked Ripple → Mayhem to explore the different energy levels, then mix and match the element arrays and cloners from the remaining columns. A separate section contains color variations to play around with.

Final Thoughts

The OnyxFlux loops actually started as a totally different look. I created quite a few loops that won’t see the light of screen, but I’m glad I experimented with them, because eventually I arrived at this combination of amorphous matter vs. solid shapes.

What's Next?

I’ll try to tackle that figure that didn’t work out last time.
