•• Update: This reward is now available on the Patreon Shop ••
This month’s reward continues the TrueSkin theme, returning to the humanoid robot – this time floating in zero gravity, suspended between taking control and surrendering to the cables that command it.
Available On Patreon
You get seven VJ loops and a Resolume project, with the original loops pre-applied with effects, plus background shape layers that let you mix and match elements according to the intensity of the music.
Superfan downloads are available in FHD (1080p) and 4K (2160p) until March 31, 2026.
Inside the TrueSkin II Reward: Resolume Walkthrough
Here’s a Resolume tutorial where I break down how I built the TrueSkin II project – taking 7 loops and turning them into many variations and compositions so you can visualize different moments in the music during a performance.
I cover the logic behind why I created these 7 loops, the lighting setup that lets me compose them with faux “light sources” using shape generators, along with effect stacks, compositing tricks, and more.
Creation Process
TrueSkin started from a 3D humanoid robot character model. Still images of the model were used as reference and fed into Nano Banana Pro, where the frames were generated. These frames were then animated in Kling 3 using the Element Reference feature, which keeps character and object consistency across generated videos.
The robot is intentionally lit from behind so it can sit naturally on top of any light-source background. Color the background red, or tint the robot toward the background color, and it will read as part of the same lighting environment, as if illuminated from within.
The animations were upscaled and interpolated in Topaz Video to 4K at 60 fps, then time-remapped in After Effects to fit 120 BPM using 8, 16, and 32-second loop lengths.
Resolume Arena Project
The loops include a character that hovers calmly in zero gravity – perfect for a break in the music. I also created a loop where the calm pose transitions into four different poses to visualize the drop.
These loops were rendered with alpha transparency so they can easily be moved, cloned, and processed with effects inside Resolume. I also created loops where the character hovers calmly as cables slowly connect to it, followed by another loop where the character is fully connected and changes poses as if controlled by the cables.
I reused the shape sources from the first TrueSkin reward as backgrounds.
Alongside the background shape layer inside Resolume, I added a symmetrical central chamber built around a glowing red core that functions as the primary light source, expanding the canvas beyond simple shapes.
Final Thoughts
Kling 3 was released just in time for this reward. The Element Reference feature helped lock character consistency between frames – something that was difficult until now when generating longer character shots.
What's Next?
Something totally different, I guess?
