Halloween is upon us again – a good time to purge a little darkness from within and come out lighter on the other side. This pack came from that same impulse, where mythic darkness meets digital decay.

The visuals are synthesized shadows: ancient symbols rewritten in data, power refracted through broken pixels, code dust, and noise.
You get seven VJ loops and a Resolume project arranged into columns where the elements of this set are isolated (auto mask), charged with energy (light flashes), and multiplied through time (radial cloner) – forming mythical visual spells that might just take over the souls of your audience. Hopefully.

Dark Reel Showcase
Instead of explaining how I’m mixing the loops in Resolume, I read a short piece of code-poetry that fit the Halloween spirit.
Creation Process
Shadow Synth was created in Midjourney by generating start and end frames, then animating them in Midjourney Video and Veo 3.1. I upscaled and interpolated the animations in Topaz Video to 4K 60 fps, then time-remapped them in After Effects to fit 120 BPM (8-second loops).
I enhanced the loops by overlaying a layer of coded text to add a sense of digital chaos. One loop was rotoscoped for alpha transparency, and next time I plan to generate start frames on greenscreen to simplify background removal.
Resolume Arena Project
I brought the seven loops into Resolume and started experimenting — removing backgrounds with Automask, adding light flashes through Levels, layering loops on top of each other, cloning the raven with Radial Cloner, and offsetting those clones using Delay.
Finally, I added a few colorizing suggestions to show that the current purple hue is only a starting point — we VJs can take it anywhere, adapting the mood to the lighting or the event’s theme.
What's Next?
I’m continuing to develop a full VJ pack in the Shadow Synth look — expanding this aesthetic into new patterns, new loops, and deeper mythic decay.
